We are experienced in officiating African weddings. With a deep understanding and respect for African culture, we will guide couples through a sacred and meaningful ceremony that honors their heritage and celebrates their union.
Pre-Wedding Consultation:
Our priest begins by meeting with the couple to discuss their vision for the wedding ceremony. During this consultation, they will explore the customized rituals that the couple wishes to include. We will provide guidance and expertise, ensuring that the ceremony reflects the couple’s cultural background and personal preferences.
Couples Divination – We will consult via divination for the couple to know how to optimize the marriage for it to be successful . This is a separate consultation that will also include an Ebo ceremony.
Pre Marital Counseling
We offer premarital counseling to support the couples transition from single to married. This will include personal development opportunities for each party and developing a plan for success.
Customized Ceremony:
We will then tailor the ceremony to incorporate African traditions while maintaining a personalized touch. We will work closely with the couple to select and integrate specific Yoruba components that hold significance to them. This may include rituals such as the reading of the proposal letter (Igba-nkwu), the tying of the knot (Eru-Ipe), or the exchange of gifts (Eru Iyawo). The priest will ensure that these customs are seamlessly woven into the ceremony, creating a cohesive and authentic experience.
Prayers and Blessings:
We will lead the couple and their guests in prayers and blessings, invoking the presence and guidance of spiritual forces. They will offer words of wisdom, encouragement, and well-wishes in the Yoruba language, enriching the ceremony with the cultural and linguistic heritage of the Yoruba people. The priest may also provide translations or explanations of the prayers to ensure that everyone present can fully understand and appreciate their significance.
Symbolic Rituals:
Yoruba weddings are known for their rich symbolism, and our priest will guide the couple through these special rituals. This may include the pouring of libations, the exchange of traditional Yoruba wedding attire (Aso Oke), or the breaking of kola nuts. The priest will explain the symbolic meanings behind each ritual, allowing the couple and their guests to fully embrace and appreciate the Yoruba cultural traditions being honored.
Inclusivity and Respect:
We approach each wedding ceremony with a spirit of inclusivity and respect, welcoming couples from diverse backgrounds and beliefs. They are sensitive to interfaith marriages and can incorporate elements from other spiritual traditions, if desired, while still maintaining the Yoruba customs at the core of the ceremony. The goal is to create a harmonious and authentic experience that celebrates the couple’s love and the Yoruba culture.
